What can students expect from this class?

VLA DANCE class celebrates expansion of a dynamic mind and body through contemporary dance rooted in rhythm, spirals, and weight shifting. Class includes guided improvisations, heat building exercises, and contemporary phrase work that allows class takers to access both length and strength within their muscles. This is an advanced professional class.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Sasha Peterson is a dancer with VLA DANCE, a professional dance company based in Greater Boston. The company presents shows, classes, and engagement through the lens of BIPOC and queer artistry. Sasha currently lives and grew up dancing in the Boston area. In 2016, she completed a dance major at Connecticut College, through which she had the privilege of learning from and performing works by renowned dance faculty and guest artists. Sasha has worked with Ali Kenner Brodsky & Co., Betsy Miller Dance Projects, Jessy Zizzo & Dancers, Lisa Race, Shura Baryshnikov, and apprenticed at David Dorfman Dance. She is a company member at Grant Jacoby & Dancers, Ruckus Dance, and VLA DANCE. She currently teaches at Midday Movement Series and is also a licensed massage therapist.
