a MAKE iT / SHARE iT / SHOW iT (aMaSSiT): Choreography Lab

We live in a world of ever changing social ideology and mindfulness. Artists become unofficial historians of thought and change by creating projects that reflect the questions and challenges of the time.

The 2024 season of aMaSSiT, a collaboration between The Dance Complex and Monkeyhouse, will gather tools for building momentum to transform an idea into a larger project. The program will continue to promote the importance of both artistic and administrative process, with preference given to any applicant who demonstrates a clear and strong desire to shake up their creative process and prioritize their administrative savvy.  This unique program, open to creators in all dance genres, is structured to both foster those early in their careers and to deeply challenge more experienced artists.

Within this program we ask:

– How do we realize ambitious dance projects?
– How does our administrative process contribute to the success of our work in terms of funding, promoting, and presenting our project in the larger field of dance?
– How can we benefit from the expansion of our thinking of our individual practice in context of the arc of years, decades of our making work, or the context of the communities in which we participate as humans and as makers?

The Dance Complex, in partnership with Monkeyhouse, present the return of a MAKE iT / SHARE iT / SHOW iT (aMaSSiT) Lab with its 2024 iteration of Pitch Session Showings on May 4, 2024 at 8:00pm and May 5, 2024 at 7:00pm.
