Pre-Dance Complex: The Day The Doors Were Locked

The Day The Doors Were Locked

On March 24th of 1993 the doors of 536 Massachusetts Ave are padlocked shut without warning to Joy of Movement members or dancers. The courts have frozen Kenneth Estridge’s (owner of Joy of Movement) assets and he later files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. This leaves up to 11,000 members of the fitness chain without reimbursement, memberships were being sold the previous day.
