The Dance Complex Series Events
The Dance Complex’s programmatic series were developed through on-going dialogue and evolving needs expressed by dance community members. We offer upcoming opportunities for performances and teaching in a few unique ways. Applications and inquiries are welcome beginning November 20 through early spring* for the following September 2026 – June 2027 season.
In the 2026-27 season, we will be opening requests for proposals for the following series:
- Performances
- Friday Night Lights
All applications for these series will be shared among our Curation Advisory Committee and programming staff for consideration.
*early application encouraged as series will be scheduled on a rolling basis
Learn more about The DC Series as well as aMaSSiT through this informational video. DC staff members Peter, Joe, and Caitlin along with Monkeyhouse Co-Artistic Director karen Krolak give a verbal overview of these programatic series.
Performance Series
Opportunity for Performance Makers
The DC will collaborate with artists to bring their work to our spaces. We will provide the artist with space and a box office split of 75/25 percent in favor of the artist. There are 20+ weekends available in one of our two performance spaces – Julie Ince Thompson Theatre (Studio 1) and Studio 7. It is recommended that the artist has self produced previously and has other funding in place to cover artistic expenses. We encourage a wide spectrum of genres and cultural origins within under-represented communities.

Friday Night Lights
Opportunity for Communities & Movement Leaders
Friday Night Lights is an opportunity to host one in a series of community parties with a format of mini-lesson in your specific style(s) followed by a dance party in our Studio 7. Previous Friday Night Lights events have included a wide range of styles – sometimes even multiple genres joining together to introduce the community to their surprising commonalities and differences. Staff can work with you to help develop your ideas…if you have the beginnings of an idea, we’d like to hear it!
The DC Presents
Within the Performance Series umbrella, The Dance Complex Presents Series offers a finite number of engagements per season for which The DC and the artist engage in shared fundraising and community engagement development. Usually, these engagements are the product of several months of conversations with an Advisory Curation Committee and staff. Please indicate in your proposal if you are interested in participating in this more involved and coordinated programming.
Reflection, Healing & Movement
The Reflection, Healing & Movement series will be discontinued in the 2026-27 season. However, we still welcome programming of this variety, and encourage you to submit a workshop interest form here.
