This class is for people who wish to become better performers, runway artists and posing artists. This class is also for dancers who want to learn the techniques of Waacking. Both classes require similar foundation. Runway is when a model struts down the aisle in designer clothing or a fashion created look. Their job is to sell the garment, and to exude absolute style on the runway. This class will help students through whatever they are going through in life with a walk. I believe that when we walk or move ahead, we conquer our fears just by moving forward. This class will help you learn how to flow with rhythm, pose with intention and twirl in grace.

Waacking is a style that can be used on any runway, stage or platform. It’s rooted in Queer gay club culture and was fine tuned through underground disco music by gay men who had dance through exclusion and slurs. Waacking derived from Punking and has evolved into today’s dance culture all over the world. In this dance we will learn how to develop musicality, rhythmic arm patterns, and how to ooze out our emotions while creating visual art. This class will help students dance on cue, freestyle, and learn the rhythm of Waacking. But most of all, you will learn work the floor with this dance.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

I have been training in Runway since I was 10 years old at St. Joseph school. My first coach was Jossie Coleman and I codirected my 1st runway show in 2012 for Boston Fashion week. I was trained by Tyrone Proctor and took Waacking and Punking classes from Shabbadoo, Angel and Brian Green. I am the first Waacker from the Waacking resurgence that is from Boston, MA.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

It helps me transform my energy and attitude. I feel better after dancing and walking in my own way in life.
