This dance workshop will focus on dancing socially! Through guided exercises, short dance combo & partner/group exchanges, we will build the skills & awareness needed to navigate spaces such as clubs, parties & cyphers. Whether dancing solo, exchanging energy in a circle or vibing with a group, this workshop emphasizes how to move on your own while remaining open & responsive to the shared musical & social experiences.

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Hip Hop and House are social dance cultures that emerged from Black and Latino communities in New York and Chicago as spaces for creativity, self-expression, and community. While Hip Hop culture was born in the Bronx in the 1970s and House dance evolved in Chicago’s underground club scene during the 1980s, both traditions are rooted in improvisation, musicality, individuality, and respect for the cypher and social dance floor. Today, they continue to inspire dancers around the world while preserving the values of connection, cultural exchange, and authentic expression.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

I’ve been dancing for over 15 years, with Hip Hop and House dance becoming my primary styles through consistent training, social dancing, battles, and learning from respected community members. As the founder of All Things Dance Boston, I regularly create spaces that bring people together through social dance, emphasizing community, musicality, and authentic exchange. My teaching blends technical foundations with practical social application, helping dancers build understanding and confidence in various dance settings.
