What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Samba is a rhythm and dance rooted in West African traditions and brought to Brazil by enslaved Africans. It is a dance of both joy and resistance as well as self-expression and community.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Gabriel is the grandson of mestre Telinho da Mangueira and baptismal godson of João Nogueira, a two-time Estandarte de Ouro winner, a five-time Sambanet winner, and the youngest passistas director in the history of Sapucaí, making his debut at age 17 with Império da Tijuca.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

I love samba!
