Class begins with a one-hour floor-based stretch & strengthen session that isolates muscles and emphasizes breathing within the exercises from 9:30-10:30am. We then progress to a 1.5-hour standing class from 10:30am-12pm beginning with a warmup that includes technique and additional stretching and strengthening, culminating in a phase geared to the bodies in the room. We work with the body we own and learn to work it to its best potential.

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?
My modern/jazz class is a hybrid of Horton, Limon, and Humphrey Modern with Dunham and Luigi techniques intertwined. The class fuses these styles to allow the dancer to use the body without force.
What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?
Andy Taylor got her BFA in Dance from UMAss Amherst. She has taught modern, jazz and International Folk Dance for over 5 decades. She has certifications in Scottish Country dance, Better Brain and Balance, Autism Dance Therapy and has taught locally and nationally. Her training in modern dance includes Horton, Limon, Simonson Technique and Luigi Jazz.
Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…
…I believe every human body has knowledge. I teach the way I do so the fine-tuning of that information can allow everyone to find the dancer inside.
