The lineage of Neo-classical dance belongs to Legendary Uday Shakar in combination with Kohal’s father’s (Chira Ranjan Das) life work. His parents Chira Ranjan Das and Minakshi Das were principal dancers in the Uday Shankar style of dance and have traveled the world performing in this style. Currently he is continuing to learn this style of dance from his father and also started teaching in Boston. His goal is to carry forward the legacy of this lineage of dance. Kohal is trained specifically in two Indian Classical Dance forms Bharatanatyam and Odissi. Moreover, he has undertaken workshops and courses in Natyashastra. Altogether, he has a deep understanding of the nuances that are exhibited in Indian Classical Dances and can explore newer (neo) combinatorial vocabularies.
