What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Wearing heels on stage—whether on Broadway or performing with a pop star—is often a professional requirement and a serious challenge. This class focuses on training the body to move confidently and safely in heels while maintaining full performance quality. Dancers will strengthen their technique, refine their artistry, and learn how to sustain energy and stability through even the most demanding two-and-a-half-hour show.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

With a foundation in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary—and infused with Latin styles like Samba and Salsa—I bring a rich mix of influences to my work. In recent years, as dancing in heels has become more widely embraced by men beyond drag culture, I’ve explored how this practice transforms movement, posture, and expression. Through years of training in heels, I’ve studied how to move safely, powerfully, and artistically—even to the fastest music. This class celebrates that evolution, inviting dancers of all identities to explore strength, style, and androgynous grace.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

I am passionate about teaching dance while wearing heels because it allows me to tap into both my feminine side and my strong male side. It frees me from dancing within one frame of mind or one box, and lets me explore new ways to move, interpret myself, the music, and the dance itself. By playing with gender-bending movement, I can show strength and expression that I can’t always access when dancing in flats. This is something women have long been able to do, but for men, it’s something new—and now we can all share this empowering experience of dancing in heels together.
