This technique class series, developed by Meghan McLyman and Kristen Duffy Young, is a result of their 20+ years of collaborating, art-making, and teaching together. It draws from an eclectic blend of contemporary/modern dance practices, Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA/BF), and the work of Bill Evans to find connectivity, fluidity, and ease in the body. In addition to feeling good, participants will discover a greater range of movement and a deeper connection to themselves and their surrounding community.

Moving to Connect draws from an eclectic blend of modern/contemporary dance and somatic practices, including Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA/BF), to find connectivity, fluidity, and dynamic expression in the body.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Meghan and Kristen are Certified Evans Teachers under their mentor Bill Evans. Meghan is a professor of dance and the dance program coordinator at Salem State University. She earned degrees in dance and arts administration from Point Park University, American University, and Hollins University. Kristen is the founder of the newly established SynchroniCity Dance Co. and the Colleges of the Fenway Dance Ensemble, serving as Director for almost 20 years. She holds degrees in dance and business from UMass Amherst, an MFA from Goddard College, a CMA from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, and RYT-200 Certification through Yoga of Energy Flow.
