Students can expect a focused warmup, added focus on the foot to hop connection (in and out of heels), fun choreography to the music genres listed per day, and a sassy environment set up for video recording yourself!

The choreo is adaptable – wear heels or not, dance in a chair, wheelchair, etc. This workshop will take place in Studio 7, a fully accessible ground floor level studio.

Please note: We will be choosing a group for a heels dance cohort called the “SHEnanigans: Heels Or Not Dance Cohort (you can opt in or out in the workshop registration form). **This is also an excellent and highly recommended opportunity to get ready for Slutcracker 2026 auditions!**

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Happy Hour gives dancers a chance at Heels Dance choreography/technique in genres celebrating Black music/culture. The choreo is adaptable – wear heels or not, dance in a chair, wheelchair, etc. This workshop will take place in Studio 7, a fully accessible ground floor level studio.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Cassandre Charles (aka JoLie LaVie) has been dancing in heels for over 15 years. As a dancer with invisible disabilities, Charles is happy to share her expertise with ALL bodies and abilities, and spread the news that moving is healing! Cassandre is a member of the Lipstick Criminals, creator of United Colors of Burlesque, and a certified ZUMBA instructor.
