Each workshop will consist of a one-hour Gaga class (continuous guided improvisation) followed by continued research of movement concepts through phrasework and choreographic explorations. Both parts of the class are open to dancers of all levels, as we will each explore our range as movers and interpreters relative to our familiar limits. Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to dance barefoot or in socks.

Cost: $15 for a single class, payable by Venmo (cash and Zelle also accepted).
If the workshop cost is prohibitive, discounts are available upon request.

Registration: Feel free to drop in, but I do appreciate pre-registration and pre-payment through the registration form.

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Gaga is the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin throughout many years, parallel to his work as a world-renowned choreographer. Gaga classes are predicated on a deep activation of the body and physical sensations. Each class provides a framework for discovering and strengthening the body and adding flexibility, stamina, agility, and skills including coordination and efficiency while stimulating the senses and the imagination.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Gaga has been an important part of my dance practice, from taking my first Gaga class in 2011 to now working as a certified teacher since 2016. I feel lucky to have directly worked with Ohad Naharin as a dancer in Batsheva – the Young Ensemble and later as his assistant in Batsheva Dance Company. I love taking and teaching class and finding new discoveries every time.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

Gaga gives me a rich set of tools to dance with and creates space for researching together.
