What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?
Flamenco is a form of music and dance that commonly associates with Andalusian region of Spain. Though Flamenco was developed in Spain, it also receives other cultural influence from places like Africa and South America. These influences enrich the complexity and the beauty of Flamenco.
What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?
Yu-Ling Hu was trained in four styles of Spanish Dance and she was a former dancer of Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater from 2007 to 2016. While in the company, she performed nationally and internationally including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Chicago Dance Festival, Dance for Life and etc. Yu-Ling’s work and training has been influenced by several masters such as Omayra Amaya, Paloma Gomez, Concha Jareño and La Choni. Yu-Ling founded Yuling Spanish Dance in 2017 and she has been offering Flamenco classes and performances. Yu-Ling is also a board certified Dance/Movement Therapist and she facilitates Authentic Moment practice.
