How We Go
The work will feature poetry and dance by beheard.world’s professional artists, accompanied by a unique gathering of Bagpipes, Flamenco Guitar, Singing Bowls, Beatbox, Cello and piano who are coming together under the guidance of artistic director Anna Myer and Boston composer Nate Tucker to create original composition. The purpose of the piece is to bring people together from different neighborhoods and cultural sectors. The piece is rooted in the belief that no cultural, musical, or choreographic styles are mutually exclusive. Through Spoken Word, Hip Hop, modern dance and this original music, we explore the possibilities of what lies beyond racial and cultural difference through hope, connection and love. The piece will demonstrate that social change occurs when many people change themselves by seeing the world through the eyes of “the other.” It will show the connection between vulnerability, overcoming fear and empathy in creating a kind of flow that can coalesce into making personal and societal changes.
