Yeredon is a nationally recognized cross-cultural arts center, and school in Bamako, Mali, which aims to bring a greater knowledge of Malian culture to foreigners while preserving the work of Mali’s most talented artists.

I am passionate about teaching this style because…I am passionate about teaching this style because it is an opportunity to share a piece of my culture with the world. It brings me happiness and I want to share that happiness with anyone who comes to learn!

This class taps into the movement legacy of West African dance, specifically from Mali. To honor the traditional nature of Mali’s dance and music culture, this class also features live Djembe and DunDun accompaniment.

What can students expect from this class?

This class is open to all levels and generations! Each class will involve a warmup and learning of a full dance. We will share what we have learned by dancing across the floor toward the live drummers! This class is more importantly about letting go, having fun, and celebrating with community!
