Bronx Rapper Afrika Bambaata drew from his experience watching African tribal dancing in creating the first group of hip hop dancers. DJ Kool Herc\, inspired by his Jamaican roots\, created the musical beats by spinning two records simultaneously. With many other influences along the way\, Hip Hop has established itself as a dance form with a long history and vital and dynamic presence in our culture. \nWhat background\, training\, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?\nSharon began dancing Hip Hop with Robin Tyler and her Funk girl group in Cambridge\, MA. She went on to teach Hip Hop as part of her T.A. at Boston Conservatory\, where she earned he MFA in Dance and wrote her thesis in Hip Hop history and evolution.
