DESCRIPTION:This class builds on the 7-8:15pm Kathak Foundations class which is a pre-requisite for the 8:15-9pm time slot. Students interested in this class may reach out to Anjali via email for details and to determine if this is an appropriate class for you. \nCost: $35 per week combined with Kathak Foundations at 7 pm \nREGISTER HERE\nAccepted Payments: Cash\, Check\, Venmo (@Anjali-Nath-2)\, Zelle (3711) \n\nWhat is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?\nAnjali teaches in the unique style of Pandit Chitresh Das\, founded in the Lucknow Gharana (style) with influence of the Jaipur Gharana along with a technique he developed called Kathak Yoga\, where you will learn how we can integrate multiple rhythms through our dance. \nWhat background\, training\, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?\nMy kathak journey began with Gretchen Hayden\, Founder of Chhandika Boston and Senior Disciple of Pandit Chitresh Das. Pandit Das was the pioneer of kathak dance bringing his rich training and upbringing in Kolkata\, India to the US in 1971. I began my studies informally in 1997 while at Tufts University with Gretchenji and was hooked. From 2003 to 2011 I trained\, taught\, and toured as a member of the Chitresh Das Dance Company (CDDC) all across the US and India\, holding lead roles such as Sita in Sita Haran. I have been steeped in this incredibly rich tradition of kathak\, with it’s elements of dance\, music\, history\, philosophy\, math\, and so much more and am thrilled to share with students and audiences widely in a manner that highlights how universal and accessible and FUN it really is! \nFinish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…\n…I have experienced what this unique style of dance and the unique style of training I have been steeped in and now teach has done for my own growth and wellbeing and I am inspired by how I see it impact others I reach through teaching\, performance\, and simply sharing. Choreos are urban style with hidden workouts in every step! \nWhat background\, training\, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?\nI’ve been part of Latina Tribe -Dance Fitness since 2021 in Mexico and became a certified instructor in August 2024. I have been a dancer since I was 3 years old and fell in love with Latina the minute it was founded.
