SUMMARY:High Heels
DESCRIPTION:My classes always begin with a thorough warm-up and stretching\, followed by a clear explanation of High Heels technique to help build balance\, confidence\, and freedom of movement. I focus on creating a supportive environment where dancers feel comfortable exploring both technique and improvisation. Every two classes\, we learn a new choreography. \nCost: $30 single class | monthly pass (4 classes) – $100 total \nRegister: Message on Instagram or text (781) 815-8017 \nREGISTER HERE\n\nWhat is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?\nI teach classical High Heels\, a style deeply influenced by jazz and other dance forms\, which is why we also focus on building this essential foundation. The style is strongly driven by emotional expression\, exploring how to move through feeling\, femininity\, and intention. At the same time\, it builds incredible strength and control in the body. \nWhat background\, training\, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?\nI have been dancing professionally for 19 years\, exploring a wide range of styles throughout my career. About six years ago\, as a performing artist\, I was introduced to High Heels\, and it instantly became a powerful form of self-expression for me. SUMMARY:Echoes of Time
DESCRIPTION:Echoes of Time presents a series of solo works in the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam that examine how time is experienced\, remembered\, and imagined. The program moves across temporal states: the past\, where memory reconstructs and reshapes experience; the present\, where time may dilate or contract under emotion and attention; and the future\, where aspiration and desire give form to what has yet to unfold. \nThrough traditional repertoire\, the evening highlights how these dimensions of time have long been encoded within the structure and storytelling of the form\, through cyclical rhythm\, layered narrative\, and expressive interpretation. Echoes of Time brings these elements into focus\, tracing how Bharatanatyam renders time not as a fixed continuum\, but as something elastic\, subjective\, and deeply human. \nDR. SHRIYA SRINIVASAN: \nDr. Shriya Srinivasan is a Bharathanatyam artist known for her vibrant stage presence and mature emotive depth\, trained under Guru Smt. Sujatha Srinivasan. Shriya has performed widely at prestigious venues in the United States and in India. Blending her training in Carnatic music\, neuroscience\, and biomedical engineering\, she brings a unique perspective to her practice and choreography. Shriya cofounded and co-directs the Anubhava Dance Company. Shriya recently co-curated ‘Intersections’\, an international conference focused on the evolution of the Indian classical forms. \nTickets Here\n\nIf you or a guest in your party has accessibility needs for this event\, please contact Joe Juknievich at joe@dancecomplex.org or (617) 547-9363.
