What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

This style of dance is known as a Suelta/Timba line where someone leads moves and people follow and perform that same move. These moves and music are from the Cuban culture!

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Boston Rueda has close to 25 years of experience and the instructor, Ethan Wagner, who will be the visiting instructor teaching these moves, has been involved in Cuban dance, since 2007.

A lighthearted bio 🙂 Ethan Wagner is a danceyboi from the second greatest city in the world, New York (Boston is #1, obvi). Ethan was voted most handsome boy and sexiest Rueda dancer by his grandmother in 2020, 2021, and 2023 (don’t ask about what happened in 2022, or why Ethan’s cousin Frederick suddenly went missing, never to be heard from again). Ethan is the creator of Rueda at the Park NY, RuedX, Rueday, and combining popcorn and M&Ms at the movies–seriously, nobody did that before Ethan did it.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

“It’s truly fulfilling to share my knowledge with those who are enthusiastic about learning. This dance style is steeped in rich musicality and cultural heritage, offering a holistic experience for the body, mind, spirit, and soul. That’s why I initiated groups such as RuedaMe, Rueda at the Park NY, and RuedX. These platforms foster a continuous exchange of ideas, allowing us to expand the reach of this beautiful dance form and explore innovative ways to make it more accessible to all.”
