| What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?
The workshop I teach incorporates contemporary movement practices and work with text. The practice of blending movement and words dates back as far as humans have had the ability to speak, as all verbal communication is an integration of the voice and the body. |
| What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?
For many years I worked concurrently as a dancer and a journalist. In my choreographic work, I am able to marry the two threads of my professional life- movement and text. |
| What can students expect from this class?
During the workshop, I will teach excerpts from my repertoire, focusing on the choreography and the use of text. We will generate integrated phrases together. |
