2023-24 DC Special Events
About Sleeping Weazel’s Experimental Cabaret:
Sleeping Weazel presents its inaugural Experimental Cabaret featuring Dance Complex Executive Director Peter DiMuro and Opera unMet Artistic Director Marshall Hughes singing solos accompanied by pianist Andy Lantz, Accumulation Dance partners Meghan McLyman and Kristen Duffy Young performing sequences from their dance, The Slightest Variation of Weather, and Patrice Jackson-Tilghman weaving the sections together with her improvisational cello performance. This evening is the first of a series the company will present leading up to the premiere of Time and Times again, a collaboration between Sleeping Weazel Artistic Director Charlotte Meehan and Peter DiMuro’s Public Displays of Motion company in 2025. Each of these experimental cabarets is intentionally designed to bring audiences together in a defiant joy that also captures the moving/movement depth of art and life in all their spiraling electricities. |
About Sleeping Weazel:
Sleeping Weazel productions combine bold, experimental style with social justice ideals. Celebrating the ridiculous, the sublime, and the earth-shattering, our aim is to cross the boundaries of popular and high art, and to collaborate with artists of different generations and cultures, working in various genres. The company motto, “Making Different Possible,” means we dream awake with our audiences in Boston, and together we make life-changing art. |
