What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Pointe was created as part of classical ballet in the 1830s to emphasize the quick footwork and create a light and ethereal quality. Today it continues to be popular and to modernize in conversation with contemporary ballet.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

I started pointe at age 12 after taking ballet for a number of years. I was brought up in Bournonville technique which emphasizes speed, control and articulation. I enjoy introducing new students to pointe and helping more experienced students to refine their skills.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

with correct training pointe work can be so much fun and so beautiful to watch.
