What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Locking, originally known as Campbellocking, is a style of dance created by Don Campbellock Campbell. This style emerged in the early 1970s in California, and has roots connected to African American culture expressed through Funk music and dance. Don and his crew, The Lockers, put this dance on the map to make it one of the most popular street dances of our time.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

The Hood Lockers have spent a great amount of time studying Don Campbell, The Lockers, and other pioneers of this style since the early 2000s. Much of their journey has included connecting with these people in person and learning the history, technique, and ideology that makes this dance so great. They have represented their understanding through performances, battles, and classes.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

we feel that those who are interested in learning should learn the true meaning of this dance. We feel that our experience and exploration can put people on the right path to discover the true origins of this style.
