What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?
Park Choo Sam and Jimmy Koo were two of the Master Instructors of the Chang Moo Kwan schools of Tae Kwon Do in Uijeongbu, Korea where I trained. It is a system of exercises and techniques designed for self defense and counterattacks in unarmed combat .It makes use of the hands and feet as weapons and defenses. |
What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?
While in Korea I advanced up to the rank of Blue belt before I left. My US Instructor who had obtained his Black Belt during his stay there ultimately became my Stateside Instructor. Under his tutelage, I earned the rank of Black Belt in the 1st through the 8th degree. I participated in numerous local and national tournament competitions over the years and was both regionally and nationally ranked. I was inducted into the Philadelphia Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2018. |
Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…
I have benefited in so many positive ways, in my life, as a result of the training and discipline it has afforded me. I now want to train and help others to experience the benefits of the practice. |
