What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Boston Bollywood celebrates the majestic entertainment powerhouse: Bollywood, the Indian film industry. It is a tribute to all the artists whose combined talent and perseverance makes Bollywood the huge production house it is today. ​​By drawing inspiration from their work, the aim of Boston Bollywood is to delight our dancers with dance forms rooted in classical and folk styles and transport them to the magical land of India.

 

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

After 8 seasons of Boston Bollywood and having choreographed 38 separate acts, teaching Bollywood classes for 6 years, Swati has had the privilege to work with hundreds of dancers and loves being an integral part of the dance community. Swati has also been a guest choreographer for the World of Dance Ensemble production at Endicott College where she taught the dancers a 10 minute long Bollywood fusion routine within a period of 20 hours.

 

What can students expect from this class?

Class Structure

5 minutes Check-in
5-10 minutes: Warm-up
60 minutes: Learn choreography with a focus on common moves used in Bollywood dancing
5-10 minutes: Record videos
5-10 minutes:
Cool down (If time permits)
