What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century. Under the influence of Italian aristocrat and Queen of France, Catherine de’ Medici, ballet later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It is practiced, taught, and performed around the world, and has foundational techniques that are used in many other dance genres.

Contemporary is a dance style influenced from modern dance, which originated in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. It emerged as a rebellion and alternative to classical ballet, Vaudeville dance, high-kick and skirt dancing.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

The School of Classical Ballet was founded in 1985 by Anna Myer and Patricia Adelmann. For over 30 years the school has provided students with classical ballet training and helped to develop student appreciation for dance as an art form. We currently offer classes in ballet and contemporary. Director Kirsta Sendziak, faculty, and staff continue to provide students the quality of instruction upon which the school was founded.

The School of Classical Ballet is a technique-based school with emphasis on learning. Performances are all-inclusive opportunities for students to showcase their technique and gain experience performing for an audience.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…
