Book Launch for “Being, There”– Poems and Translation

2023-24 DC Special Events

About Book Launch for “Being, There”– Poems and Translation:

This is a book launch for my new book, “Being, There”, a collection of my new poems and my translation of an ancient Greek text of Parmenides. The event will involve an introduction of me and the book by George Kalogeris, a local poet, followed by my reading from the book. There will be time for dialogue with the audience in response to the poems and perhaps to explore how poetry and dance interweave. I will then be available for signing books. There will be light treats, wine and cheese, and time for people to visit with one another following the reading and the dialogue.

About Gary Whited:

Gary Whited practices poetry, philosophy, psychotherapy and he dances. He has been working on a translation project of the 5th century BCE fragments of Parmenides’ poem for the past five decades. In his current book, Being, There published by Wayfarer Books (Homebound Publications), his current version of that translation effort is offered along with some of his new poems. This book dances between the poetic voice of the ancient Greek Parmenides and the poetic remembrances of a young life on a cattle ranch on the Montana prairie. His first book titled, Having Listened, won the 2013 Homebound Publications Poetry Contest.
