What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?
Flamenco is originally from the south of Spain. It’s a mix of many art forms, such as Classical Spanish Dance, Bolera (which in turn comes from Ballet) and traditional folklore. |
What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?
Isaac was born in Boston, to the flamenco masters Ramón de los Reyes and Clara Ramona, he was dancing as soon as he could walk. He trained in flamenco and ballet at the legendary Amor de Dios in Madrid. He has toured as a soloist with the companies of El Guito, Joaquin Grilo, Antonio Canales, and Ballet Antonio Gades, among others, and also toured with the group of legendary flamenco singer/composer Enrique Morente. |
What can students expect from this class?
The Beginner/Intermediate/All Level classes will be a mixture of flamenco technique and choreographies in the Palos/Styles of Solea por Bulerias and Tango. The Intermediate/Advanced Level classes will be an Introduction to Tablao Flamenco (Tablao’s are Flamenco clubs). These classes will focus on choreographies of Solea por Bulerias, Fandangos and a new Patada of Buleria every class. |
Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…
I want to not only guide my students to “do the steps” but also to incorporate and express authentic Flamenco spirit and rhythm into their dance. |
