Aikya – The Union:
Imagine sitting under a foggy night sky in an outdoor amphitheater, it’s December in Kolkata. You hear the hustle and bustle of the city life. But you are so engrossed with the sounds of sitar and ghungroos – or bells – and the catchy beats they are making that you start tapping your fingers to, unknowingly. A chilly wind blows and everyone wraps their shawls tighter, but no one can take their eyes off of the stage as the dancers tell mystical stories. ——– A scene from a wintry classical concert in Kolkata, India Souls of India presents Aikya – a Sanskrit word meaning union – portrays the harmony of different types of Indian art forms. The show gives you a taste of how traditional performances are performed all over India.
