What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Afro Flow Yoga weaves together the ancient wisdom and healing practices of African dance, yoga, and ancestral rhythms to create a high-vibrational, transformative experience like no other. Dive into the heart of our community and explore a fresh, powerful way to connect with your true essence and elevate your well-being.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Afro Flow Yoga® grew out of founders, Leslie Salmon Jones and her husband, Jeff W. Jones’ explorations of healing and their African American and Caribbean heritage in West Africa, Haiti, and Jamaica. They discovered that many dances and rhythms survived slavery and colonialization and that yoga had a long, if little-known, history on the continent. The couple developed a new integrated practice, Afro Flow Yoga®, that integrates Leslie’s deep knowledge of yoga and African and Afro-Caribbean dance, Jeff’s extraordinary fluency in drums, melodic, and other traditional African instruments, and their passion for the empowerment, education, healing, spirituality, and wellness of all they serve.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

…For the last 15 years, Leslie and Jeff have been passionate about community building and bringing healing and transformation to people of all backgrounds in an inclusive and non-judgmental environment.
