What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

The legacy of this genre breaks the barriers designed by ballet pedagogy and researches the mixture of foundational technique with new textures and intentions. Contemporary ballet aims to shift previously known norms to understand this movement language through a new lens.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Nicole trained in Cecchetti Classical Ballet throughout her life and graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in Dance with a specialization in Ballet from Kennesaw State University outside of Atlanta, Georgia. As Nicole explored her somatic practice, she found that dance held a greater purpose than previously recognized. For Nicole, the predictable and translative nature of ballet allowed for symphonies of movement to be created; however, the synapse of meaning behind the movement from the mover to the witness lacked genuine connection. Nicole hopes to guide practitioners in their own explorative journey by challenging their preconceived notions of ballet technique.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

it allows me to challenge my preconceived beliefs while also returning back to my roots when needed.
