Happy New Decade
Year of the Tiger and year 19 for The Dance Complex
It’s 2010 at 536 and there’s much to celebrate and enjoy.
The major remodeling is almost complete: the offices, a conference room and a fully accessible bathroom are on the first floor; the lobby is more open, with natural light, recycled fixtures and a newly restored hard wood floor; a new men’s locker room is up one flight; a secret ‘for performances only’ powder room has been created.
There are still some wayward wires, a number of boxes looking for a home and some persistent dirt awaiting reckoning.
But the glorious light streaming through the stained glass is a warm welcome that matches the energy of our community; colorful, multi-faceted and radiant.
There are a few new faces (and the people who inhabit them) to welcome also. Ayanna Parris has been coordinating the volunteers throughout the renovations and Jennifer Burpee has ably joined the staff as Contract Coordinator. Welcome and well done.
Jayne Murphy and Danny Swain survived, even after shouldering many more (construction) responsibilities than anyone could have anticipated. Thanks to all of you.
And thank you to the teachers, rehearsers, performers and dancers who plodded through the plaster dust and weird smells to keep making this the lively center for dance that it is.
As we enjoy ever-lengthening days, we’re eager to see the SCC series boom, all the concerts, workshops and events transpire even as we try to organize our Costume Coop upstairs.

Class prices range from $8 - $14 per class. Schedule and prices are subject to change; see below for weekly cancellations, substitutes or changes, or contact the teacher directly.

Street shoes are never allowed in any studio (however, you may bring a clean pair of shoes to use).
CCAE - Designates Cambridge Center for Adult Education classes. These classes are open for walk-in participation and are held as usual when CCAE is out of session. To register for a full course, contact CCAE at 617.547.6789 or visit www.CCAE.org.

Gift Certificates can be made for up to $50.00 (plus $5.00 processing fee for each certificate) and can be used for classes or rehearsals. You can stop by the Complex between 9am - 5pm, Mon - Fri to purchase a certificate with a DC staff person. Otherwise, please send an addressed, stamped envelope along with a check/money order made out to The Dance Complex for the amount of the certificate (+$5 fee - make sure the check has your name, address, and phone number listed). Include the full name of the certificate recipient. We will send the certificate along with a Dance Complex schedule in the envelope you provide within 48 hours of receipt.
